What we were solving
Dashbrain is a analytics web all created by Elliance to track social interactions on a clients website including hits/likes/tweets and an array of other metrics in order to see how the site is preforming in order to improve your content as needed.
When planning the new UI, I spent a considerable amount of time researching the best way to display the large amount of dynamic data available. What started out as sketches turned into a functional, intuitive UI.
We moved forward, utilizing react.js and D3 charting library for the front end, in order to create lightweight instances of app for each user. We used a base HTML template, styled by SASS as well.
Having no prior experience with D3 or react, it was a rewarding challenge to build a functional interface and wire it to a server to work with user authentication, data collection and the other remote APIs (facebook, twitter, etc) that needed to work smoothly to create a pleasant experience.
